First World Mathematics Day
First 'World Math Day' will be celebrated all over the world.

The scope of Pi Day, celebrated on March 14, has expanded to cover the entire math spectrum and the world. The first "World Mathematics Day" will be celebrated on March 14.
According to the statement from the European Mathematical Union, the celebration announced by UNESCO and organized in partnership with the World Mathematical Union (IMU) will be held in more than 800 different events in more than 100 countries.
Since math played an important role in almost every field, from patterns in nature to climate science, from medical imaging to search engines, from optimization of transportation networks to artificial intelligence, the theme of the first year celebration day was determined as "Everywhere is mathematics".
Shamila Nair-Bedouelle, UNESCO's Deputy Director General for Natural Sciences, underlined the very important nature of mathematics and noted:
"The technical applications of mathematics support every aspect of our lives today. Algorithms are central to the development of artificial intelligence, climate science and technological disruption. That's why it is key to the development of countries, as stated in the United Nations 2030 Agenda."

Betül Tanbay, Vice President of the European Mathematical Union and Member of the Board of World Mathematics Day, stated that mathematics has an extraordinary universal power and made the following evaluations:
"Every person needs mathematics in life. We should use this special common denominator to make humanity progress as human beings. World Mathematics Day in our country has attracted a lot of attention. Educational institutions need qualified activities, they are very interested."
